Bit shocked by the prices I'm getting quoted for a A or Interim service on my XFR

The Jaguar fixed pricing scheme says £199 (https://www.jaguar.co.uk/owners/servicing-maintenance/fixed-price-servicing.html)

Which seems a little high for for an oil change and inspection but I would pay that but my local dealer wants £385 , the next nearest wants £458

Apparently the scheme is voluntary so its up to dealers whether they choose to offer the fixed prices or simply charge whatever they think the public will pay

The car is under the approved used warranty so I would prefer a dealer stamp to make it more simple if anything goes wrong but I cant justify paying that much when an indy will do the same or better job for half the price

How far would you have to travel to find a dealer who'll honour the fixed price deal?
I seem to recall having to argue with my local dealer about it since the literature seems to contradictory. Some bits seems to say that the "R" cars are covered while other stuff says they aren't.

Not sure were you are but I know a dealer in Reading that's doing the £199.00 fixed price.

Just booked mine into the Oxford dealer who's doing the A service for £299.00.

Main dealer prices are bonkers. But something has to pay for the posh coffee and ranks of shiny young ladies in front of computer screens I guess. I was very unimpressed by my last visit to a main dealer.

Well that's bizarre. Oxford quoted me £385 and Reading £458 . Basingstoke will do it under the scheme for £199 so I'll go there

A full service was £275, that was last year December at a local branch.....however, there was the issue of a new engine.

So often in dealerships these things depend on who picks the 'phone up. It's hard to imagine how they stay in business sometimes.

Well had the service done but the dealer has used 5w30 oil in my 5.0 SC engine , I understand that 5w20 should be used , what do other people use?

Can you choose the oil filter too? I've seen this suggestion on the Merc forums but some owners get very concerned if it's not a "Mercedes" oil filter, or at least one of the brands they're known to use.

One place did vacuum out the ATF instead of the oil though.

I believe the recommended fill for a little while now is 0w20 for the 5L s/c engines. That is what was put in mine in May by Stratstone.

0w20. 5w20 was the old recommendation and you might get away with that but if you have a blow up with 5w30 in it you might have problems with any warranty you might have. I would want it changed.

Not sure what is recommended. The vehicle is under a Jag warranty.

Well after a two week holiday I have had no contact from the main dealer in question so I'll try again on Monday and if not I'll order 8 litres of 5w20 from Opie and do it myself

So final update - Jaguar in Basingstoke called me and have assured me that 5w20 oil was used on the service and the 5w30 on the invoice is an administration error , have to say that doesn't fill me with confidence but they will send an amended invoice to reflect this so all should be good going forwards re-warranty
