Jaguar XJR needs new exhaust section

Hi guys
I bought a 1998 XJR sight unseen from an auction and had it delivered and put straight into storage. Need to have it on the road for European top gear style road trip but I am working to a budget!
It Needs paint and a few little glitches but from the little drive it drove well. My biggest issue is the left flexi pipe is blowing and as such needs replacing.
I have 2 options to replace just this circa £130 inc fitting or do the whole cat back system and enjoy a different sound (£499)
Problem is I dont know what it sounds like in the first place! I do like a nice burble quiet when cruising but a nice deep sound when accelerating
