Dont mean to annoy anyone with their previous comments about central locking problems, which may also be used with other models besides XJS. But has anyone considered that that age of the vechiles maybe a factor to dial in here.
What I mean is the car (mine) being a 1992 XJS, so with age the bushes, clips all ancillary parts to the door lock do age, they shink, expand do all sorts of wierd stuff depending on your climate location.
With all the guff that I have read today because mine was playing up, that being lock the drivers side door, then it would open again, as if to say something is restricting it.
People have spent lots of $ on new accutators and such, all that I did was remove the door card observe what was happening and then adjusted the lower rod that comes from the inner door latch back to the soliniod, now its as smooth as silk, rotated the rod in a clockwise direction one and half turns.
Now it doesnt feel like snapping the key off in the passenger side door.
I hope that this may assist others as its very annoying to say the least when things on these classics dont work and you throw big dollars at the issue.
Thanks Dean

I don't know whether the central locking on your 92 XJS is the same as that on my 94 X300 but that occasionally gave problems even before it was 20 years old. If I had problems with the locks bouncing/cycling or just plain refusing to work then it was always due to the voltage of the battery. A nice full charge and they'd go back to working fine.
I'd suggest trying that before trying anything else.

95% of the time they just needed correct adjustment and lubricating.
