Thinking about an X351 XJ
Discussion
I haven't ventured into these parts of PH before, so be kind!
I'm looking for a vehicular update, seeing as my Alfa Romeo is becoming very... Alfa Romeo, and the opportunity has arisen for me to get a 2011 XJ at a decent price - I haven't seen the car yet, and simply wanted to know whether there's anything that I should be looking for on a 6-year-old 3 litre diesel.
If it helps, it's a luxury in Indigo blue with ~45k - that's about all I know at this point! Actually, I know the insurance is eye-wateringly expensive, didn't think I was THAT young...
Thanks all! Some virtual beers are in it for the best advice!

I bought one a 2011 portfolio 2.5 years ago with 30k on the clock from a jaguar dealer with 2 years’ warranty. I like the looks, the driving experience and the fact that you don’t see many others on the road. I am now up to 67k and use it every day. That’s the good bits, has it been reliable and trouble free? absolutely not, been back for repairs to the door locks x3, Roof making a noise x2, fuel gauge intermittent x2, driver’s seat collapsed x 1, engine fault codes/poor running x 3, tyre pressure warming faults x 2, interior light comes on by itself x 1, and other faults I have forgotten about.
The door locks, tyre monitoring and roof were all design/known problems. Thankfully all were fixed under warranty. Prior to the XJ I had two XF's for over 3 years without any major issues so I know Jaguar can get it right. In my mind just not with the XJ, hopefully newer ones might be more reliable.
Having said all this I might buy another one before the mileage on mine gets to excessive.

Just bought a 2012 LWB Portfolio, picking it up on Saturday.
Upgrading from the previous model XJ (X-358) and the 351 couldn't be more different (in a good way). The 3 litre diesel mated to the 8 speed box is phenomenal. It has so much torque, it pulls like it has an electric motor. Certainly not another "wafting" car.
Will have to see if any of the known issues materialise, but the car is covered by the Approved Jaguar Warranty for 2 years, so I'm not worried.
