Is there anyone who produces sill panels for the XJ40?
Mine has already had a couple of repairs at the rear of each side and now needs repairs to the fronts too; I figure I am just as well to replace the whole outer sill but can't find anyone who does a repair panel.
Googling throws up various forum threads of people who have had them custom made at vast expense, but surely there is someone somewhere who still makes them at a sensible price?
Or maybe not...

You can of course fit xj300 sills- they are identical albeit they don't have the 1/2inch swage line.
HTH
I didn't know that!HTH
Any reliable supplier of them then?

SNG Barratt produce an aftermarket outer sill for the XJ40. They are basically a long piece of steel folded to the profile of the XJ40's sill - there is no sill end formed on either end of them. RH side is JLM11348RP http://www.sngbarratt.com/PartSearchResults.aspx?p...
(Marked 'In stock')
LH side is JLM11349RP http://www.sngbarratt.com/PartSearchResults.aspx?p...

This is what they look like:

This isn't my car, but the poster on that forum has used the SNG Barratt aftermarket sill panels.
Edited to add: The recommendation by Carsie to join xj40.com is a good one - there will be posters there who will be able to cut rust free panels from a car they are breaking - naki.k for one (who is also on PH). Naki breaks XJ40s and is very helpful and knowledgeable on all aspects of the '40. There is a lot of know how on the xj40.com forum and it is worth being a member, though I don't really post there myself nowadays.

Thanks for the plug David.
I had noticed your absence. Why don't you come back? Was it something I said?
XJ Restorations also produce a new panel similar to the SNGB part.

Edited to add: IIRC, the sills sold by SNG Barratt are (or certainly were) made by XJRestorations.
