Hi there, I'm looking to up the power of my standard V8, has anyone out there done similar with sensible budget?

Thanks

Assuming it's a normally aspirated car then I think AJ6 engineering do a freer flowing exhaust for the V8. Roger Bywater, who runs that Company might also know of ECU mods - he's an ecu wizard. Other than that I would think fitting all the stuff from a written off XJR or Super V8 would be something of a challenge! The electronics might be the problem and the N/A engines had variable valve timing units whereas the Supercharged did not. Unless the car is an absolute minter, might be better to swap for a Super V8?

Are you the same guy selling these cars on www.carandclassic.co.uk???

I recognise the Jap import model in this picture.

Start with a K&N replacement panel box air filter first and then possibly a ECU chip box.

Cheers

There is no sensible priced upgrade for the V8 4.0 engines. You cannot e-map them, you can't easily replace with a Supercharged engine or add a supercharger. The cheapest bang for buck is to add NOZ

I'd keep a dustpan and brush handy so you can sweep all the gearbox components up from the road immediately after the first time you nail it if you do go for a big power increase.

The more powerful XJR has a different and stronger gearbox for a good reason... smile
