Guys

I assumed i had the auto high/dipped beam function on the XFR but tried it last night for the first time no avail ... so either i don't have this function or it's faulty.

There are two eyes/sensors on the back of the rear view mirror behind windscreen and an 'auto' function on the control stick. Does this indicate the function it is built in ....or not?

if it does ...any idea what could be causing the problem?

I hadn't heard of that but it sounds like a handy idea. My bumpy old bus doesn't even have self-levelling headlights. The first iteration of the XF didn't seem to have xenon lights as an option, which is odd as the S-Type did.

The auto label on the control column is just for the auto on/off of the headlights when it gets dark. The auto high beam beam can be turned on/off using the screen under Setup-vehicle/security-auto high beam. There's also a camera below the rain sensor for the wipers.

If that menu pick isn't there, you haven't got auto high beam. Don't worry too much, it's pretty crap, like every other manufacturers auto high beam biggrin

Thanks,
Yeah i did go through the menu and that option is definitely not there but it doesn't sound as if i'm missing much then and on the upside ..in general the high beam is extremely powerful, i thought i'd lit up the entire southern hemisphere when i first switched it on, best lights I've ever seen.

Like every main beam assist system, it works on line-of-site, which is too late imo. Also, when you're approaching a T-Junction, the main beam stays on until you're right on the junction. Any cars that pass prior, will get blinded as they pass.

The Jag system is marginally better than the o/h's 16 plate Golf though. I've had mine turned on this week, but I'm constantly overiding it to the point that there's no point having it. It's being turned back off tomoz.

What I need is an autodip feature that works on other peoples cars. biglaugh
doesn't seem to be so much of an issue when I'm driving the XKR, for some reason people notice when you flash them.
