XJ8 4.0l x308 newbie,

Hi everyone, new to this forum so be gentle ;-)
I bought two xj8s both sovreighns one a 1998 and the other a 1999. Both painted Jaguar Tudor White. I bought them from a friend of mine who was selling his Wedding car buisness, so I took it over. He lost his wife to cancer, and his heart wasnt in it anymore.
Anyway on the 98 car she recently had the tranny oil and filter changed, took her out the other week and she drove great, I went up to my dad inlaws left her idling on the drive then set off for home. Now she wouldnt change up from 2nd gear (I think) no warnings on dash but I reved her upto 4000rpm and it wouldnt change. I wonderd if the tranny fluid isnt upto the fill level so im going to check this when I get a chance. Im also going to check the resistance from the rear plug, thanks to RRPhil on the jaguarforum.
At first I wonderd if it was the Throttle body, im also going to take the electrical conectors off and clean them. As this can also cause problems.
