4.2 XKR or 5.0 XK
Discussion
Hi all
I've decided to start looking for a XK to use as my semi daily driver. The car will be used a couple of days a week and at weekends etc. I did look at other options like a Porsche 911 etc but I already own a 1967 S1 Jaguar E-type and I just can't resist idea of having both and old and new jag.
Anyway looking through the classifieds with a budget of around £20k and it seems I could either go for an early 2006/7 4.2 XKR or go for a slightly newer 2010 5.0 XK. Can I ask which variant you guys would choose? While I like the idea of the extra power from the XKR I've heard the later 5 litre engine is very good and the later XK would have the newer interior.
Which would you go for?
Thanks
Trev

I'm currently on the lookout for an XKR 5ltr convertible, why? Well I already have an S type 4.2 V8 Sport. Great engine but would like an R, also fancy just that little bit more BHP. Interiors are IMHO similar but auto change and instrumentation is a little different and slightly more up to date.
I've tried an F Type 3.6 S also, it has a sound track to die for but it just appears to be a bit more basic relating to interior, 2 position seats, can't say I like the auto change either.
So it's the XKR 5ltr for me.

Having had a 4.2 NA S type and a 4.0 XKR I would always advise on the R the supercharged engine is a different beast and IMO much more fun even though you can rarely use the power. The Facelift XK is considered much nicer and 5.0 R cars are around £20K now, early 4.2s can be had for nearer £14K

Al, you're having a laugh here. I was only saying that there are sales in your own sites classified section that he may not have known about. This is the Jaguar forum isn't it?? You edited my link out the last time someone was looking, but merely pointing in the right direction can't be wrong surely.....

Sorry, but that sort of comment would get routinely remove from any post, you are not allowed to "plug" your wares on the forums and that includes vehicles or parts.Gassing Station | Jaguar | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
