Anybody got any experience with this model of car and engine as they seem quite rare?
I fancy a petrol supercharged Jag, but not the big V8.

Yes they are rare. Do you really want the expense of a supercharged Jag XF without the V8 soundtrack? There's really not much in it with the mpg.

Go and test drive both, and come back and say the R wasn't the better car biggrin

There is a reason they are quite rare. They are not as fast as the v8 supercharge but are not much more economical and they are more expensive to run than the 3.0 diesel. Engine was really not designed for UK in that installation

I'd try one, they were for sale at the time most people were brainwashed into buying diesels.

It may not be as quick as the V8 Supercharged but it will be a lot better on fuel, it may not be as good on fuel as the diesel but it's up 65hp on the fastest and will sound a lot sweeter, and you won't kill it on short journeys.

It must average mid/high 20's, which would put it about half way between the XFR and the diesel. A worthwhile difference.

But in fairness, that 65hp is practicality 25% more, that will make quite a difference.

Just look at it as a replacement for the 5.0 n/a. Almost as fast, slightly better on fuel, and cheaper to tax. smile

I am averaging mid-20s with my R-S that isn't driven particularly economically. That's not to say the 3.0S/C wouldn't be a nice package, but I'd only expect a marginal improvement in fuel consumption, and in city traffic at that.

Well I took one out for a drive today and really enjoyed it, coming from a Merc E350. The Jag wafts nicely, but seems to be able to make progress with little effort. We have put down a deposit and need to sort out the paperwork.

Hope you enjoy it. Engine aside, the XF is a country mile ahead of the Germans. I'm loving my RS, and loved the two XFSs.

www.jaginfo.org has some great people on, and good advice for diy.

Picked up the car this afternoon. It was a bit damp to push, but it is a lovely place to be. I hope it is dry tomorrow and we can go for a quicker drive. The ride quality is much nicer than the E Class Merc was.
