Having recently bought an XK8, threads like this one about floorpan rust make me very twitchy!

My car is in decent shape with no obvious external rust and was pronounced to be OK underneath when it was serviced earlier this year.

I would like to protect the car as well as possible - can anyone recommend a good place for Waxoyl/Dinitrol treatment in the Surrey/Sussex area?

No personal experience, but I'm looking for something similar in the East Midlands. One company I have had a quote from is 'Ultimate Waxoyl Treatment'. They have a number of branches across England and Scotland, including one at Egham. Might be worth a call/ visit if no other recommendations come forward.

I'd be interested if anyone has had any experience with them, anywhere in the country.

Good luck,

David

Check out Before n After website. A few miles from M6/M69 interchange. I sent my Disco 2 there for a 10 year treatment. Chris has loan cars, so you are not tied to his unit. Useful if you are coming from outside of the area.

One tip with waxoyl- don't do it on a wet day. Even if the car is dry when it goes on, the spray on the drive home will take it straight off. I know at first hand. Once it dries, you're fine, but this takes a day or two.

You might need to spray inside the box sections and cavities with a schutz gun to prevent rusting inside if the xk8 is anything like it's predecessors. The general consensus is that dnitrol is better than waxoyl. Messy horrid job. If you do it yourself, make sure the hose on the schutz gun doesn't get kinked, otherwise the air forces it out of the breather hole straight at your face.

As this chap says, Dinitrol is far superior to Waxoyl. There a several comparisons online.
