Hi

I am thinking of buying my first Jag - X300 3.2 Sport. I have seen 3, 2 are in blue and the other is green. The blue ones have 57k with full jag history. The green one has 60k with FJSH but is being sold with 12 months warranty and is £500 more. I do want a warranty, so it worth haggling for the green one? It has a tow bar which I will have removed (I have no use for it).
Is there anything is particular I need to look out for on these cars?

The 3.2L straight six engines are virtually unburstable... as are all the straight sixes really.

I wouldn't have thought a warranty is essential for that car. The most epensive things likely to go wrong are the rear diff (A specialist can rebuild it for approx £250-£300 and the suspension bushes / dampers which probably aren't covered by the warranty anyway.

Rust won't be a problem unless you prang it and the electrics werre pretty much sorted out by the time they build the X300.

If you go for the green one and the tow bar is a genuine Jag one with the removable ball, then take it off and flog it on ebay. You'll probably get £100 for it.

Personally, assuming all three are of similar condition, I'd go for the one with the highest spec / nicest colour combo.

Good luck!

Although this was a few years ago now, I bought what was then a 3 year old 3.2 Executive on a P plate with 87k miles on the clock (FJSH), and in two years of ownership my only issue was a flat tyre, and the LCD clock display missing a section!! By far the most reliable car I've ever owned.

Thanks for the replies. The Jag is the only car I am looking at upgrading to. I think it's a lovely grand tourer. Very little goes wrong with them and I've had a look on the jaglovers website. Are there any UK based jag sites, beside JEC? Will let you know what happens!!
