Will the XKR rear box fit?

You can do this on a 4.2 XK so I imagine it'll work on a 5.0 as well.
If you just want the look though, I'm pretty sure the tips on the exhausts for the 5.0 cars can be removed; Jaguar certainly sell different tips as accessories so it might be worth checking with a dealer if this can be done and the cost etc.
You don't have the vacuum-pump operated valves for the outer, less-silenced pipes too so using an XKR back box will result in it operating in "loud mode", so to speak, all the time.

Bought a XKR cat back exhaust system today to replace my standard XK system.
Very please with what I got. Its used but in very good condition. The same year as mine 2010 with the same mileage 28000. It came with the rear bumper center section.
I've been told it should fit straight on. Only bit to fiddle with is the active valves on the outer pipes. I need away of adjusting and lock them into place.
Tune to suite.

The active valves default to the open position if the vacuum feeds are disconnected or (on an XK) not present so the exhaust will be in "loud mode" all the time on an XK. No need to do anything further, if that's what you're looking for.
Not sure what you mean by "Tune suite", no need to have the car ECU tuned/mapped just changing exhaust if that's what you are getting at?

What I've done is. I've made up a way of locking the valves either full open, just open or closed on both valves. This way I can tune the sound to my liking.

Nice work, but I'd be surprised if you ever close them after a few weeks
On an XKR you can leave the valves permanently open by removing the fuse that controls the vacuum pump that operates the valves. I did this the day after I bought mine and never put it back since. The difference between open and closed is pretty subtle really, you just get a little more volume at low RPM or on light throttle input. If you're changing your XK back box to an XKR one and keep the valves open then you might well find a bigger difference though, I don't know how the silencers differ internally.

Your probably right. I'm expecting to leave them open but the adjustment is a good back up plan. All done now.
Just the rear box and the center division for the bumper was changed. But it was a 5lt exhaust going onto a 5lt car. Very easy to do as well.
And the sound is WOW !!
I can always adjust it down a bit if Mrs Bodyman does'n like it (may be )

Well. I had to close the valves down a bit to about quarter open. Just a bit to much boom from the rear box at low reves with the roof down. Fine with the roof up. Still a vast improvement over the stock box Gassing Station | Jaguar | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
