I having an intermitant problem with my 2000 XK8. Its been starting and running fine now after a run it will not start took it to a garage for repair but car started and stoped with them many times. Drove the car home left it in garage and next morning sme problem no start. Battery new car goes through its systems check normally but no start starter motor will not even attempt to start. Any ideas what could be this problem or maybe a member could point me in the right direction what could be possible problem no codes showing on screen. Help

Not sure if an XK8 is the same but on the XK it can be the brake pedal sensor not sensing your foot on the brake.
Fix is to apply brake pedal hard for 20 or so seconds this releases the mechanism and then all is ok.

Assuming you have to apply brake to start as on the XK.

Totally different car but exactly same issues so maybe an easy and very cheap first fix...

classic mini, 1993. After a run the car wouldn't start, would try to crank very slowly. Suspected battery as it was old, replaced, same issue. Would start then after a run you were lucky to restart. New alternator, all checked, charging nicely after a run same issue. Added a new earth strap, problem never restarted. Have a quick look at the earths first

Could be a sticking throttle body. When it won't start take off inlet pipes. Cycle ignition, see if throttle butterfly is moving. It's not connected directly to cable s o don't assume it's moving unless you physically see it move.

Car not in park? smile

I've done it before, switched off engine without putting car in Park and then taken a bit of time to suss out why it wouldn't start. laugh

Or it could be that the park sensor bit on the gearbox is not recognising the car is actually in park, is it a microswitch by the gearlever on these that senses that? I can't remember off hand.
