Jaguar XJ V12 or Daimler double six
Discussion
I really need to scratch a series 3 itch with a V12. I keep seeing this http://galloot.myzen.co.uk/stk75.htm but wondered if the Jersey sea air is likely to have killed it? The dealer is miles away which doesn't help.
Would a Japan import be a good idea?
Any ideas are welcome!

I've had two of these cars and they were simply magnificent. The V12 HE is an unbelievably smooth power plant.
On a decent run I got 22mpg and a similar figure to the ad. when tooling around town.
If, as they say, it's been in a dehumidifier atmosphere then it should not have suffered - I live in Orkney and manage to keep my cars in show condition.
The gearbox is only a simple device, compared with modern stuff but well up to the job but you won't get the seamless changes people now expect. I have a Daimler Super V8 and they really are seamless changes.
It does seem a lot of money for a thirty plus year old car but the depreciation will be virtually zero if you look after it.
Go and have a drive, even if it's miles away - most of the others on offer have been restored or in need of it.
Bullet proof engine as long it gets regular oil changes and never allowed to go short on water. Corrosion would normally be a problem on a 1984 but I would be surprised if this had any issues but all rubber stuff is 30 years old.
Let us know how you get on - they are VERY rare in that condition.

Just spotted the tyre pics - all Pirelli but ad. says Bridgestone, needs asking about, perhaps just changed by dealer. Also there are some near side pics which seem to show rear door a bit out of line - the gaps and lines were always perfect. Might just be a reflection.

Off side front wing is off colour from what i can see and the bottom of the doors seam to be all rippely ,that means the old rust is eating in to it,get some pictures of the in side of the bottom of the doors when they or open and close ups of the rear arches.....The inside looks great as well as the engine bay.
