Hi All

been a while since I was last in the Jag fold but at the weekend I chopped in a car and should be picking up a new (to me) XKR convertible on Wednesday.

Cannot wait, the car looks and sounds stunning. The seats are superb and the comfort is soemthing else after 2 years in a road going track car.

Don't worry - the closer it gets, the less you sleep, so it seems longer hehe

So far the wait has been manageable, now its the countdown until the morning!

It is worse than waiting at Christmas.

Just booked a villa in the Tourtours region of France so should have a lovely motoring trip at the end of May. Roll on tomorrow!

I really hope you enjoy it tomoz. Please pop over to www.jaginfo.org and share. Great forum, and a bit more traffic than the Jag section here.

One more sleep to go. I hope you manage to get some good shut eye, you'll want to be fully awake when you take it for a spin. Awesome cars but you need to be paying attention while getting used to it. The traction control wasn't set up for your maiden great aunt.

biggrin Watched probably every video on YouTube now!

Fatboy will look over there now, thanks!

As for traction, been used to the z06 which is 500 ponies and a lot less weight but amazing traction as it happens - I see the jag even in standard mode allows quite a bit of slip.

I wont be toying with the different modes tomorrow as looking wet but is there a link anywhere as to say what each setting is?

Does it go
Standard
Dynamic
Sport?

What effect does dynamic or sport have on the traction setting?

Cheers. one more sleep biggrin

Yup, watch the wet! I can get interesting - and that's coming from a 5.0 Chimaera.

Got the opportunity to engage "Chequered Flag" mode yesterday. Highly entertaining as always, and the sound is superb.

Need to check to see if fuse 19 has already been pulled on mine because it sounds pretty fruity even when in D, but flooring it up to the red line certainly add to the aural entertainment.

oh its gooooood!

Love it, really do, top down the sound is epic. It doesn't handle or stop quite as good as the corvette, but then a z06 is a road going track car with comfy seats and aircon and the jag is a GT. Still taking time to get to used to the brakes, they are not as good as the zeds but then its an auto and it weighs 300kg more. The handling is very good but it certainly feels loose on the rear, probably as a result of an e-diff vs traditional always on LSD but again loving how it handles.

Would like to know what Dynamic mode does, the manual doesn't really say much and I can't notice any real difference. I do like sport mode with manual changes when not on the motorway, overall its fair to say we are loving it. Will shove a readers ca thread up in the forum.

Child sits comfortably in the rear with a Bubblebum child seat.

I've had real trouble adapting to Jag brakes. I didn't like my F-Type's and I don't like the XFR-S's. They feel very wooden and a single pump gives you a much better pedal. The local Jaguar dealer agreed with me but said there were no recommendations from Jaguar so nothing they could do as they checked out mechanically sound. They take a fair bit of pressure to make anything happen and I don't altogether trust them.
