Need more info. Does it just randomly go down by itself for no reason? Or just when you've closed it?

So if you've done the one-touch close (pulled the switch right up and let go but it continues to close) then it just goes straight back down after it hits the top then it sounds like the anti-trap sensor has incorrectly decided that there's something in the window and opened it again, it's there to prevent trapped finger-type injuries.

Are you talking about an XJ SV8 or an SF SV8 and does your car have frameless windows on the door in question? My 2008 XKR does this sometimes and it has frameless windows. There's a technical bulletin about window alignment on the XK, also it could be because the window seals need some lubrication, if they're too dry then they may provide enough resistance to the window motor for the anti-trap to think that something's caught between the window and the top of the frame or the roof.
