X300 Stereo Question (general stereo stuff)

Might be better off in General Gassing, but I thought I would pop it on here (please do move it if I am wrong!)
The tape player on my stereo keeps switching sides, making ipod entertainment tricky. My uncle has given me an old stereo system of his own, so I tried to fit it.
I managed to get the whole thing out without breaking anything, disconnected the old stereo, only to find that the wires aren't compatible!
The plug on the X300 looks like this:

What can I do, short of rewiring the whole thing (I wouldn't know where to start!) or throwing away my new stereo?
