Hi,

Not a question I would mormally concern myself with but just about to move house and now need to commute 40 miles each way.

A bit of twisty B road the fairly free flowing dual carriage way.

I need some comfort at my age and an XJ fits the bill.

So, could I get 40+ to the gallon of black stuff on a gentle cruise 70-80 plus a bit of 50 on the narrow country roads.

Any experience would be great.

Also, I like the older shape, but should I stretch to the latest XJ with s few more miles ( some are now under 20k£

Thanks

Wayne running around I get about 32 but on a steady motorway run I have done 49mpg driving style affects this of course I have lead feet so you can get more driving carefully when running arond. Great cars enjoy it

We've had our 2008 2.7d X358 LWB a couple of months now and can confirm they are amazingly economical for their size

At a steady 65mph, we get over 49mpg, never less than 30mpg around town

I wish I'd bought it years ago......!

Wayne would recommend the later X358 Sovereign if you can find one there was some aluminium oxidation problems on the earlier cars in particular so check carefully
