Weight of the new ADVANCED LIGHTWEIGHT COUPE?
Discussion
As far as i'm aware, they havent released figures yet, but the automotive press say that the car will be "40% lighter" thanks to its aluminium shell. Now this is fairly useless, because we didnt know the weight to start with, however Topgear gave a more useful prediction:
"Now obviously the new XK will have more kit on it than the old one, and it looks a bit wider, but we'd guess it'll start at under 1,600kg - 100kg less than a BMW 645Ci auto, 250kg under a Merc SL500."
So that is compared to the average weight of around 1700kg for the current XK coupe.

Well bearing in mind that the current XK is about the same weight as the old XJ, I would expect the new XK to weigh about the same as the current XJ...which is about 1550kg for the V8 IIRC.
A useful saving but hardly 'lightweight'.
Still, it's better than Audis A8 which actually weighs significantly more than it's steel predecessor.
