I wonder whether the XKR experts on the forum could let me know from what year or version of XKR sat nav was a perspective view available, rather than the top-down 2D view?

I would also welcome opinions on how good the XKR sat nav is.

Thanks,
Steve

I thought the 3D option was only available on the earliest versions, it was taken away as the disk space was needed for better maps. The general view of the X100 SatNav is that it is functional but poor, the most up to date maps are from 2003 and people are now replacing the system with either built in modern systems or the guages.

Never seen a "bird's-eye" view on the XK/XKR sat-nav, certainly not on the 4.2 alloy-body cars.

I've never had an issue with the sat-nav, it's always gotten me where I need to go. Sure it's not as flashy as the units on the German cars but I suppose they have to have something going for them.

I have an original Alpine sat nav in my 2003 XK8. No 3D view available on that model. It is still a bit useful even with an out of date disk. Towns and cities tend not to move over the years although it occasionally shows me going cross country on a new road!

The satnag on my 2010 model seems pretty good. I like the count down feature in the main instrument panel.

Not so keen on the phone feature, the touch screen is difficult to use at times when the car is moving and I haven't found out how to use the quick dial numbers from the phone.
