Back in September when the launch was announced, we put a holding deposit on a 1st Edition.

As a consequence we were invited to a "reveal" up at Jaguar in Solihull a couple of weeks ago.

Whilst a lovely looking car, there is, to my mind a couple of drawbacks with the 1st Edition.

Firstly it has a fixed spec, no options at all, so all 200 in the Uk will be identical. This means no petrol alternative. No opening panoramic roof. No blind spot mirrors, which to someone with a neck problem, these would have been a preferred option. Whilst not relying on them, they are an assistance.

Also, the electric caesium blue colour! Instead of showing the car in a natural light environment, it was revealed in a darkened room which then lit up with blue led's. This made it really garish.

I can spec a normal one up exactly as I want, but this then adds not far off £20,000 of options to the base price.

I have been advised that on resale barely 25% of this is realistically recoverable.

Does a limited edition hold its value better? I don't know.

So, what to do?

The car is at Bluewater from today until the 6th Dec. I may be wrong, but even though they say it is a 1st Edition, I believe it is the one I saw at Jaguar, ie a left hand drive petrol 3 ltr "S" made to look like the 1st edition, same wheels and colour etc.

I will still take another look to see if the lights from M&S make a difference.

They are quoting June 16 for delivery so a fair wait since my initial interest.

Interested to hear if anyone else here has expressed an interest in the F Pace and their thoughts as its barely been mentioned.

I saw it today at Bluewater and it was indeed a LHD 'S' model in quite a striking blue - not sure it's really a Jag colour but it sort of worked on the Pace.

I had a quick sit in it and whilst the drivers seat seemed a nice place to be, I thought the space in the back was quite cramped and the boot wasn't huge (but I am comparing to a 5-series estate, so that may be unfair)

No idea what they cost but if I was looking for something in that sector, I'd certainly consider it.

They look lovely and I wanted one but try and test drive a new jag or look at the fit and finish - the service is poor and the cars are not built well sadly.

It looks lovely but I can't help thinking that for the money there are far better options.

Lady T, it is not a 'Limited Edition' but a 'launch edition'. JLR need to start building the first cars, so the spec is all the same and sexed up in a snazzy blue. I think the launch edition is expensive, while I love the look of the car, it is going to be a very niche model. You are better off buying a RRS or Porsche Macan/Cayenne. If you want a bigger car wait for the J-Pace and the niggles to be ironed out.

I think it is a limited edition - 2,000 worldwide and 250 for the uk iirc?
