XJR power steering pump let go on New Year's Eve. Has been with Jaguar warranty ever since. Unipart ceased production of part. Production switched to Brasil. BUT, no spare parts available! Latest ETA is first week in APRIL! ie., 3 months off the road just for a power steering pump! Jaguar have been excellent about it, customer care wise, but it does raise some serious questions................

The LAW states that you must be given service support for 10 years.

It states that you must be able to get the parts in reasonable time.

So for Jaguar, if they have a warehouse in Coventry, and you live in Land's End, they receive the order from the dealer and send it to them under a normal delivery or accelerated courier. That makes it one week max.

Three months to me means a hire car and suing them in the Small Claims Court.

Remind them of that and tell them to put some effort into finding some parts.

Oh I know all this Gavin, and you're dead right.
But I started repairing Jaguars in 1970 for fun, then it became my business.
I also specialised in American vehicles, and the sad truth was I could get ANYTHING I wanted for a ten year old T-Bird or Corvette from Detroit or New York in 48 hours. It took Jaguar 3 MONTHS to get bits to me 300 miles up the bloody M6!!
And nothing has changed; they have now, and always have had, a serious problem with both quality control and part supply issues, and no one seems capable of sorting it.
