Is it just me that shudders when they see one grafted onto an X type, XJ or S type, each to their own but there is a safety aspect and they tend to look a bit cheesy, saw a potentially nice look SRT in the autotrader and it had one, a non standard R badge and more leapers on the front wings.

I get the heritage and that but that is where they should remain, on the old ones imho !

I agree completely. I happen to have one on my old X-Type. It was the only offput on what was otherwise the right car, but it needed holes filling and the bonnet resprayed to undo the epic gashness that is the leaper.

I actually found someone who wanted to swap bonnets, and just before we did the swap she hit a deer and wrote hers off.

I've never got round to doing such expensive bodywork to undo the leaper damage, but it hacks me off every time I see it.

Yup, total naffness. And totally skin crawling when they're not even fitted straight. Yuck.

Don't get the hate around leapers, why is it any worse than the 3 pointed star or RR Spirit of Ecstasy?

I agree that on the latest XJ, XE and F-Type they don't look right. But on a S-Type or X350 they look fine to me- they were dealer fit in the US.

BTW, you mean STR not SRT?

Ye, I mean SRT, not SRT, that would be a Chrysler !

My boss in the states had an X Type in white with a Leaper on, might stem from that, I just think they look wrong on modern Jags, out of place but there are quite a few cars out there with them fitted and it puts me off as you just know you will have a hole in the bonnet to deal with.

A Leaper fitted to a car which didn't come with one as a standard fitting leaves one open to prosecution I believe.
