Dads car has tonight thrown a few errors on the dash when coming home.

There are
DSC unavailable.
Gearbox fault.
Parking brake fault.

From reading, it seems these can be as electronically retarded as the Land Rover stable mates with errors.
It could be from bulbs, a fuse, battery or brake switch.

Checked the fused and all are fine, bulbs are all good, battery is date stamped 2010 and is the Jag original.
My Disco 3 did similar when it wanted a new battery.

Anyone had similar things happen to their car?

Also, does the XF have a OBD port like the disco as I've now got a IID tool to read codes on the D3 and it could be handy if it can do basic reading on the Jag.

Hi Alan,

Does your diagnostics let you look at all the Jag modules as standard OBD reader probably won't get you the fault codes for those things. The software I have will read most if not all of the jag systems so ping me on facebook and we can arrange to take a look if you want.

Knackered battery?? Unusual to have that many faults in one go.

Mine was throwing a few wobblies a couple of weeks back. Stop/start wasn't working. Parking camera didn't come on once. Tram lines on the parking camera didn't appear or move with the steering. Random parking sensor problems.

It was startinng ok in the mornings. Booked it in and they found a battery fault. New battery and all is good.

It may be the battery.

I know my D3 would throw it's toys out the pram on start up and driving for the first few minutes when the battery was going on that.
Having 19 ecu's to power and run plus the rest of the car's maze of electrics was too much for it.

Advice on the Disco forum was any battery over 5 years, lob it and replace to be safe.

Maybe read the codes first? To be safe?

I've had those faults come up on my 2008 XF and it was eventually traced to a faulty electronic brake sensor. It took several trips to the garage because the faults would clear themselves and appear at random intervals.

The gearbox fault came up after one of the trips to the garage who were investigating it for me.

I wouldn't rule out the battery either
