Hi
I'm thinking on getting an XKR as a weekend toy.
I have a Volvo diesel for the grind to work and back and Mrs Waitforme has a Cayman
I had always hankered after a 911 , but I'm now thinking that the 911 and Cayman are too similar and having been behind an XKR I think I've been swayed.
I don't really know much about them though so have a couple of questions ....

Are they generally pretty reliable ?
Real world mpg ?
Service intervals and cost ?

Would prob be looking at a 2011 car from an authorised dealer unless there are good Indys that are recommended.

Thanks.

I've not had experience of the XKR only an XF I bought from a Jaguar main dealer last week.

The salesman told me if you buy through Jaguar finance you qualify for 2 years free servicing and a 2 year warranty, even if take the finance and pay it off shortly after.

Sorry I can't help with the XKR but this bit of info might help.

I've had mine for about 18months, and it's been reliable. It's a 2010 5L XKR.
Over that time I've averaged 20MPH. Best I've seen was 28, usually a decent length trip will be 25+, put your hoof down and single figures are probably easy to obtain.
There seems to be some confusion about whether the XKR is covered by Jaguar's fixed price servicing, my dealer (Guy Salmon) said they don't do it, but it was only slightly more, low 300s for the last service.

These cars need to be driven! Average 20MPH? Pah!

Of course, you may live on Jersey?

I have a 63 plate XKR and came to it from a 997 C4S Porsche. Whilst I loved the Porsche the Jaguar instantly felt like something special. The power delivery of the supercharged 5L is incredible and ,for me, the car is more comfortable .
It is utterly at home poodling about or being used as intended.
I have averaged 26mpg since I got it 18 months ago and had just over 30 on a long run.The second service was carried out at Jaguar main dealers at a cost of £380.
The other thing is that wherever we go someone comes up and wants to talk about it.I found this strange to begin with as I have owned several Porsche and only ever had negative responses from other road users. The XKR is a very beautiful design and I hope you get to buy one.
When I was looking there were very few newish ones outside the main dealer network and the standard of prep was nothing like as good as the main dealer.

Had my 2009 5l XKR for 5+ years now and cannot think of anything to replace it so happy to keep.Have been all over Europe for holidays.
Not totally reliable had air con problem fixed under warranty and steering column replaced under extended warranty but apart from that good-fabulous engine average mpg about 22 overall but very comfortable .These are probably most underrated cars for this money my convertible is just great
Servicing not to bad at main dealers

Thanks for the responses, not read anything that has dissuaded me😀
Can live with 20 something mpg for that amount of car and power.
Just relieved that there doesn't appear to be the bore scoring / ims issues of other brands.
Interesting to read aj's comments in coming from Porsche .

Thanks again.
