I'd also be more interested if they weren't £45k. Best I've seen is around £4K off list at Drive the Deal/ Coast2Coast.

I too want an XE-S, but with a few bits is £48k. Bonkers! Told my dealer I'll pay £40k, call me.....

In the meantime I have started looking at Mercs. The C-Class is a great looking car. Shame it only has 4 cyl engines and no 6 (C63 outta my budget), but the Coupe looks stunning and all nice models with Premium Plus Pack for around £40k, plus discounts and competitive financing. The C350e with nearly 300BHP has the £5k Govt plug in allowance. £35k! How's Jag gonna cope with that?!

Test drive to follow......

Youre not comparing apples with apples. The equivalent to the XE-S in the C Class is the C450 AMG which isnt on sale in the UK yet but is due soon at a similar price to the XE-S

True, but the C450 is AWD and MB have the Saloon, Estate, Coupe, every engine under the sun in petrol, diesel and hybrid tech.....all from the get go. Jag are pushing an XE-S with a 8 cyl V6 wink petrol engine, due to be replaced by the Ingenium range in 4 & 6 cyl guise, but sometime in future.....

Test drive both. Handling on the XE is much better IMO. I had a C class AMG line thing as a courtesy car recently new model and it wasnt very sporty at all

The equivalent BMW is the new 340i which can be had for £30k after discount. I'd imagine the new C450 will be closer to the BMW price after discount than the XE S

Coast2coast and Broadspeed both doing it for a shade over £30k. Peter Vardy are advertising more than £8k off list, that's before haggling. Some of the discount is dependant on taking finance though.

I guess a limited discount on the Jag but large ones on the BMW or Mercedes probably indicates the current supply and demand rates for the cars. Good to see Jag able to hold the price high, hope it lasts.

The fact remains the XE S ( boggo with no options) is £40k after discount or maybe £44k with extra toys. The 340i is £30k or £34k with toys. There is no getting away from the fact it's still £10k less than the Jag, boggo or with toys. Admittedly the XE S does have a slightly better standard spec but not £10k worth. I'm not trying to start an argument just pointing out (as have many others) that the Jaguar is very ambitiously priced. Loads of chat on Jaguar forums about the pricing on the new XF also being very high.

Normally it's people saying that "well you'll never get a discount on <<insert German name here>> so they'll have rock solid residuals" whereas well Jags are so heavily discounted that their residuals are bad.
What a refreshing change.

The 3 series isnt really selling so discounts are available. Its only really Porsches that generally offer no or scant discount

Not trying to start an argument. I think the pricing of the XE and the XF is too high too although i am sure they will be discounted too. I was recently offered a new XJ autobiography with a list of 82k for 63k

I know it doesn't because i know plenty of people in the Jaguar design centre. I also know the F-type could have easily been priced against the Cayman S but they chose not to which is a shame.

I've been offered a brand new A8 SE exec for under £41k - just wish Jaguar were a bit more competitive with their deals as I really do like the marque
