De-chromed my XFR
Discussion
I rather liked the look of the black pack on the XFR, but bought one without it back in February.
I opted to experiment with plasti-dip (well, Rust-oleum peel-coat, same thing really) to de-chrome the car. The primary focus was the front grill and window trims to give the car a more aggressive look.
I could write for days about the lessons learned in doing this having not worked with the substance before, but that's not what this is about. I wanted to share that it was a success, I even did the wheels to complete the look.
If you'd like to give your XF a bit of a lift (in a reversible way, when you're done with it, just peel it off).
And here she is, looking a bit more like how I intended.

Nice one. I fancy trying the grille on my Xkr in black but wasn't sure about the suitability of a plasti type paint and whether getting it off would be a real pain.
I hear that; it's fairly hard wearing but stone chips will no doubt savage the finish off. But I wanted something reversible (so I can return it to standard whenever I wish to sell it), and the unit cost of a black front grill alone was £150+, let alone the other bits of trim.So the plast-dip approach seemed most sensible for now.
