Whenever I try to put petrol in the tank, the petrol pump thinks the tank is full so it constantly cuts out. It takes me ages to get even a tenners worth in.

From a fairly brief search on the net, I suspect it is because there is a small hose/pipe that allows trapped air of the tank or something which must be blocked. I found one person who sounded like they had the same problem with the same car but their didn't appear to be a cheap or easy fix.

I have now resorted to filling up a Jerry can and pouring that into the tank as the problem has got so bad.

Does anyone have any tips to either fix the problem or a work around so I can trick the petrol pump or something?

I must admit I had the same problem with mine when I bought it 4 years ago but it turned out to be user error rather than anything wrong with the car.
I have to have the pump nozzle handle vertical and pushed all the way in then back out about 1/2" or so. It seems to sit in this position quite comforatably almost like its where is should go. Then I can fill up full bore. Other than that its very much a game of stop and start. hth.

A few people have suggested that there is probably a ' sweet spot ' but I certainly can't find it. Also, I used to be a led to put petrol in with no issues at all. This problem started about 6 months ago and has got worse during that time.
