Afternoon, all! Recently fulfilled a boyhood dream and am now the proud owner of a '95 XJ6 4-litre Sovereign for the princely sum of £550. Needs a bit of attention here and there, as you'd expect, but mechanically perfect and goes like the clappers!

There's a little rust to sort round one arch, which is straightforward enough, however it looks like the car's been under direct sunlight for 20 years and, while the body up to the bonnet is metallic sky blue with only a little fading on the upper wings, the pillars and roof are very faded, almost silver, and pretty much matt from apparently being cleaned with brillo pads! (Weirdly, the metal sunroof hasn't faded at all, and so looks completely out of place!)

I'm not in a position to spend more than the car's worth on a full respray, or even a professional roof respray, but I do want it to look decent - is it worth trying to colour-match the slightly-faded original colour and do it myself? Or, alternatively, would a white/cream roof and pillars on a sky-blue car with lots of chrome look (A) rather dapper or (B) ridiculous? Honest opinions welcome!

You could always wrap it cheaper than paint .
