1996 Daimler Six - runs too fast...

1996 Daimler Six

Hey chaps,
Need some help, a mate living in Holland bought himself a Daimler Six, the first week it ran well then the temp gauge read it was running hot, we all thought a head gasket, but after checking it wasn’t.. so the car struggles to start then runs at 2000 rpm and doesn’t drop, if you turn off the engine it will then run at 1100rpm but never drops to normal (700 +/-)

Its been in the garage 7 weeks and they’ve tested replaced everything sensor wise and said it must be the computer.

Is this a common or known problem ? any pointers ….

i had a problem in a 96 xj6 sport it was a sticking throttle body .just lack of maintainence.A good clean did the trick not sure of this helps.
Mine would accelerate but not decelerate quite scary
