Has anyone got any tips on installing a DIN sized headunit in the dash of an XK, instead of the fitted one?
Where to get the dash frame to fit it, etc.

Hi Froddan, you might like to plough your way through this link (hope it works)http://forums1.roadfly.org/jaguar/forums/xk8/search.php?st=upgrade+stereo+head+unit&ps=20&m=natural&o=default
(in the search part, type stereo head unit upgrade)
(incidently this forum - look on the xk8/xkr board general page) is excellent, in particular the recent thread on upgrading the speaker set up to match the "premium" system. If yours is the non-premium (like mine !!), then changing the speakers has a huge effect on the sound quality - the standard speakers are dual cone !!! not even 2-way. I recently put 6x9 speakers in the back and 2-way custon-fit ones in the front doors and the difference is remarkable. Try this first as the general concensus in the above link is to leave the head unit well alone.

Thanks a lot, that is a great help.
Even if the common sense says to leave the headunit as is, I still want my Clarion mp3 player in there. And get the speakers upgraded too, and a bassbox fitted in the boot.
