All,

I've been meaning to post this for a while now, but keep forgetting. My rear heated window isn't 100%....

Approx 1/3 of it runs fine and de-frosts in minutes. However, the other almost 2/3 takes over 20mins to clear! Then there's a little section which doesn't clear at all.

When I turn the heated window on, I get terrible radio interference, suggesting there's a short somewhere?

My car has the factory car phone kit installed with it's areial in the rear window along with the radio's aerial. Does anyone know any common problems / quick fixes for this issue?

Thanks!

Mark

Rather than suggesting "a short", the symptoms you describe suggest a break or bad connection which is causing "arcing" somewhere and resulting in the section of heater which is not working and noise on the radio.

Nope, I never got around to doing anything about it. As the weather warmed up, I forgot about the problem, however, now it's freezing cold again, I need to look at the issue....

I have looked for an obvious break and didn't find one, although I may have missed something. If there is a break, can it be repaired does anyone know?

Thanks,

Mark

Best way to detect it would be with a multimeter set to ohms.

I suspect it would be interesting to check the ohms value of yours to a fully working one.

What car is this BTW?....is the heating element the aerial as well?
