Having only just bought my 'used' 2002 XKR, I am interested asking you guys what is the best warm-up you can do for these cars, to aid longevity of its components?

Unfortunately, I have no idea what the previous owner did to the car, whether they 'ran it in' properly from new, or thrashed the thing from cold everyday. But I would like to know what I should do with my car.

I have satnav on my car so can't see oil temp, but I know them TVR boyz have a religious warm-up cycle.

I understand that the supercharger and gearboxes are sealed for life, is there anything I can do to help?

Thanx.

G

FWIW,the engine reaches temp. quickest by selecting auto on the climate control and setting to 24 deg.C
Read this in a Jag Mag.

Generally speaking I go by the rule of thumb that it takes an engine approx. 10 minutes for the oil to heat up.

Therefore I use no more than half throttle (which is ample) for those 10 minutes.

Then I'll drive as desired until 20 mins when I allow myself to play with the 'magic S button'

After 30 minutes I consider myself properly woken up and reach for the 'traction off' button

But only if I'm feeling brave

General, non-specific, but my 2p,

Iain

Afraid not Why do friends have to get pregnant just when you realise you haven't seen them for months?

Anyway, I'd like to vote on these issues in my absence...

1) Membership no. 007 - should go to the first person to take a nice looking BMW Z8 and fit it with a Jag 4.2 supercharged V8.

2) All club shelving to be level

3) Club support vehicle for trip to the 'ring etc. - Chinook

4) A minimum of 6 smilies shall be used for all posts except for Wokkadriver who shall use 12

That should do it. Now, time for a
