Hi all - well just taken the leap and purchased a 2012 XF 3 ltr Diesel from and Indie.
It's in a light metallic Blue with 25k miles and one previous owner.
I was worried about reliability after reading some of the threads on forums (always a mistake in hindsight - did the same with my Porka) and the dealer has agreed to give me a top level warranty as a result for 2 years.
Prior to this I went to a Jaguar main dealer with my wife and found one that we liked. The sales guy was great and I said we would have the car if they could offer me what I wanted for my p/x. I had already had that figured offered a week prior at another dealership. Well they gave us an nice couch to sit on and a cuppa. 30 mins later he came out of his managers office and made an offer that was way under that already offered (I had been honest and informed him of the offer). So rather frustrated/disappointed I said no and we left. We had three cars in mind to view that day. So ended up at the Indie I have mentioned.
We had a test drive and my wife loved the car so we left a deposit on the car.
You guessed it got a call from the Jag dealer asking me to come back for a chat as they were prepared to offer me what I had originally wanted for mine!
If they had not played silly buggers we would not have even looked at the other cars! I felt really sorry for the sales guy as he was brilliant but apparently they are not allowed to maneuver at all and have to refer every thing back to their local management. It was noted that when initially valuing my car the manager never left his bloody office to even have a look.

A word of caution for the future. The old sales manager in the office, salesman goes back and forth trying to get him to meet your requirements, but can't persuade him is an age old tactic.

Salesman comes over as your mate, he's on your side, you really want to buy from him, he will do all he can but, surprise, surprise, his manager stops him. Usually they sit you where you can see the office and see the sales guy 'fighting' your corner. Wander off to look at the stock and the sales guy will come over with some 'query' and try to sit you down again.

May not be the case in your situation but worth being aware of.
