I won't go into the saga SWMBO has had with trying to sort her new co. car but save to say her fleet dept royally blocked her choice due to procedures/dealer choice - she was after an XF Sportbrake R-black edition and although it's still possible, the colour choice is now unlikely as she wanted a limited colour which has now apparently sold out.

I've kept asking the dealer who we approached if there has been any news on when the Sportbrake will be updated to follow the saloon update and also when the new Ingenium engine will become standard as the efficiency/BIK improvements are likely to be financially noticeable? Has anyone heard any rumours on the Sportbrake update?...the best estimate I've heard is 2016 & if that's the case, the arrival of the F Pace could complicate matters as SWMBO hasn't exactly rushed to make a decision so far.

I doubt the current XF will be re-engineered to take the Ingenium diesels - would be very unusual for a manufacturer to undertake such work on an effectively obsolete model

As far as I'm aware there has been no confirmation of a replacement for the current Sportbrake either

Is the F Pace going to sit between the new XE and new XF and cover both the estate/SUV market. The current sportbrake will soldier on for a while, look at onyx39's spot of a pre production Jaguar 4x4 last Saturday, definitely the F Pace, must be pencilled into launch after the new XF in the new year.

Jaguar seem to be supporting wagons, as a dealer said to me on Sunday that the XE wagon was confirmed.

I think we can probably assume that the new XF will come in a Sportbrake guise, but it could take 2-3 years following the commencement of new-XFs.

I don't think that the F-Pace would be envisaged as a direct replacement for the XF Sportbrake. I see it more as a third model, as with BMW 5 series Saloon, Touring and X5.

My local dealer told me after I'd posted that the Sportbrake was unlikely to be supported going forwards although the Ingenium engine will be in the XF as per the press launch. Jaguar haven't really got behind the XF sportbrake and perhaps this is why they are likely to heavily support the F-pace and any off - spring SUVs when they come along. Word has it that no one has seen an XE sportbrake yet on test as a pre - production car and that the medium sized premium brand estate sector sales generally are dropping. SWMBO is awaiting confirmation that the leasing company can source her an XF Sportbrake R - Sport black edition otherwise we're back to square one on the car search.....
