Need some advice on an E-Type I've been offered.
It's a Mk11 4.2 Drop Head in primrose yellow with only 10,000 miles, the problem I have is that I think it spent some time in the States and want to know if been converted from left to right hand drive or even right to left and back to right again.
My other concern is that it had an engine rebuild but the current owner doesn't know if it was the original engine that was rebuilt or a reconditioned engine was sourced.
Now I have the chassis number and engine number, so how do I go about finding out if they both match to the original car?

You would need to apply for a heritage certificate.
You provide the JDHT with all the numbers you have and they then reply back with a certificate showing showing which ones are correct. If they aren't correct they won't tell you what numbers there should be there for obvious reasons.
Normally the numbers are on the ID plate, but sometimes these get modified when engines are changed.
You could also try looking the car up on xkedata.com
