I've been having trouble with my touch screen phone system in my X type estate 2006 model. Has been a little temperamental but last week just stopped and the message displayed as " no phone fitted "
All the wires seem in place
Has any member had any similar problem? Any suggestions?
Thanks Barrie

Apparently this is a Motorola system that has fibre optics connectivity. Difficult to make out where the problem would be. Do any members have any experience of dealing with such a system or what would be the best way of fault finding where this problem may be?

The bluetooth being temperamental is the norm in my experience and a lot of it has to do with the type of phone used and the software standard of the phone. I would get random phone not fitted messages but it would always fix itself with a restart. If I was you i would try disconnecting the car battery and see if this fixes it. If it doesn't then the next step would be to check each wire and fibre optic joint between the back of the radio, the bluetooth module under the centre console and the phone module behind the nearside boot carpet.

Mine does this too, and is sometimes accompanied by a silent audio system. Occasionally it says 'no phone fitted' and other times it's 'communication error - contact dealer'. It tell it not to be so bloody silly and it sulks for a while overnight and is fine next day. It's female obviously...

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I have disconnected the battery and tried this as a reboot. However, no change to the message that reads "No phone fitted ......." I wondered if there was another module in the front of the vehicle that could be in need of repair or replacement?? Clearly the two fibre optics cables that go into the rear Motorola box could be damaged, or not connecting properly??? If I was to disconnect/reconnect the fibre optics cables in the in-line connectors, would this have any possible damage? I have not tampered with these fibre optics wires as I don't know what these connectors actually do in terms of any sensitivities involved. Apologies to any of our friends out there who may understand these things to a higher degree than myself! I have no experience of dealing with these Anyway, if this is a fairly simple fault finding by elimination' then I would value any comments on how best to proceed If this is a fairly simple ten minute job then great!! I'm not sure if taking out and possibly replacing the Motorola backbox would fix this. Are these boxes dependable in the main, or temperamental? I have been using an Iphone 4 over the past 18 months and it's worked ok. Limited downloading of address book, but this has not worried me, as it's the hand free option that is needed for driving. My thanks for any assistance. It is greatly appreciated!!

Have you tried deleting all paired phones, then reconnecting your phone?

I've never really had any problems with mine over the years.
