New tyres needed for an XF-R
Discussion
I'm starting to close in on the minimum wear bar on the rear tyres of the XFR. At the moment i have the Dunlop Sport Maxx, but i find traction in these tyres to be poor, even more so when the ground is damp; they just like to spin up all the time.
Can anyone recommend a grippy set of tyres of the XFR please? I'm not too worried with budget, i just want something to grip when i press the loud pedal.
thanks

Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta are very good, and they're reasonably priced too. Their Ultrac Vorti is the replacement for the Sessanta and is another step ahead. I have the Sessantas on my XKR and the Vortis on my wife's Merc.
Michelin Pilot Super Sport are supposed to be very good as well but more expensive than either of the Vredesteins.

Michelin Pilot Super Sport.
I have Pirelli P-Zeros (latest design) as OE on my XFR-S and they're ok grip-wise but cracking. I think I'm yet to wear out a set of Pirellis bar some Assymetricos on my old S-Type.
I use Michelin Pilot Sport 3s on my X-Type and they're very good, but I fitted Pilot Super Sports to my S-Type a year or so ago and they eclipse everything I've ever used.

I've just ordered 4 Vredestein Ultrac Vortis to replace the Dunlop Sport Maxx on my XF 3.0 Portfolio S (255/35 ZR20 97 Y), will see how they are. I'm quite pleased with the Vredestein "commercial" tyres that I have on my Kangoo van and they are a big improvement over the Goodyears that were on there before.

Any update on the vorti tyres guys? about to get some new tyres soon for my 2007 XKR
I have a XF 3.0s portfolio sportbrake. The ultrac vorti is fantastic tyre and the wear is unbelievable. I fitted a brand new full set of 255/35/r20s 23,500 miles ago and the car has just come back from a service at a Jag main dealer. The present tread depths they have just logged on the health check sheet are both front tyres 5.6mm, o/s/r 4.3mm and n/s/r 4.2mm. Gassing Station | Jaguar | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
