New XF Sportbrake 2.2d
Discussion
In a moment of madness, Mrs Chopper602, seems to have bought a new XF Sportbrake. Looks very handsome in Italian Racing Red with ½ leather ½ alcantara upholstery and 18" alloys. Any owners out there with anything to look out for or any points to notice when we go and pick it up tomorrow?
Lovely colour for the XF, but I am biased
As said, a well sorted car that's a dream to drive. Much better then the Germans in the same size.
What engine?
Sometimes the second battery isn't charged properly at the factory, and this can affect start/stop, i.e. It doesn't work.

I've got a new sportbrake too, lovely car and very comfy (even on stupid 20" wheels). The only thing I would say watch out for is the parking sensors - if you pull in to a space and then reverse back to straighten up the front sensors have a few second delay in coming back on so as you pull back in there is a risk you'll hit something. Like my garage door. Maybe.
Apart from that they are a big old bus that does attract nice comments - I guess there is still an affinity to the Britishness of it rather than anything else but I have only had positive comments on mine.

Getting used to driving an auto, I've driven plenty of them in the past, but it's the first time for MrsTheWife. She does tend to worry when the stop/start kicks in! It's a nice place to be and looks great. Even brand new getting about 35mpg on mixed town driving, so expect that to increase a little as the engine loosens up.

Unless it's an R or RS I actually prefer the look of the Sportbrake to the saloon model.
Cracking cars, enjoy!
Agree on the looks - much prefer the estate unless RS, shame they don't do an R estate. Mines a diesel S so has some of the frippery of the R just not the engine :-(Cracking cars, enjoy!
Just looking at changing mine for an Audi A6 avant. Cost reasons mainly.
Hate to see it go but right time in the lease.
Only gripe is the fact you can't see the rear wheels in the mirror even in dipped mode. When trying to park tight to a kerb it's very hard not to ding the wheels.
My parcel shelf rattles which is annoying at 28k miles on Premium Luxury.
