Are there any X300 Forums/Community about?
Discussion
Hi guys
I recently bought a X300 XJ6 3.2 Manual. Its a wonderful car, but I can't leave anything alone for 5 minutes and I am already planning interested in looking at ways to make improvements.
The problem I seem to be having is I cannot really find any sort of forum/community dedicated for X300/X308 Jaguars, which seems odd given the sheer of them. There are X300/X308 sections about on various forums but they don't really seem very in depth, certainly not when it comes to modifying.
I primarily want to know how involved a swap to a XJR6 engine is in terms of the electronics side. I've heard some horror stories but nothing is ever conclusive.
I remember reading through the xjr6.com site a few years ago and it seemed very informative, but it seems to have disappeared. Does anyone know if an indexed/cache version exists?

I haven't been there for a while but the forum on www.jag-lovers.org used to be quite good.
Thanks for the replies guys, I'l have a long look at some of those suggestions.
Its stuff like the Gearbox that I'd like to at least clear up. I've heard everything from its the same box, to the 3.2, 4.0 and XJR all had different boxes and everything in between. The problem is that there only seems to be a handful of discussions on the entire next about things like this, and usually it is just hearsay and never conclusive. Similar thing when it comes to using the XJR6 in an engine conversion, its always people hearing of people attempting the conversion, never, "Here guys, look at this XJR6 engine I put in XJ40/XJ6/XJS, it was a nightmare/easy/impossible".
I mean there is a race series out there with a few XJ cars competing and yet I can't find a specification list for a competing single car. Its a bit of a culture shock coming from Jap cars where everyone has posts in great detail what they have done to their cars .
Surely I cannot be the first person on the internet to think: Tidy X300 XJ6 manual + Rotten but mechanically solid auto XJR6 + A week or two of spannering = Awesome
Surely?

You can get the original Jaguar service manuals on CD.
They might answer some of your questions.
The heritage trust's spare parts website might show you some of this stuff too.
As for modified cars using the AJ16S there is a D-Type rep running one which has cropped up a number of times for sale. I presume its the same car and not lots of them that just all look the same. I believe it was raced quite successfully. being pretty light and not short of poke can't hinder.
See http://www.jaguarclassicparts.com/
If you look at
http://www.jaguarclassicparts.com/uk/jaguar-xj-x30...
You'll see that the 3.2 and 4.0 manual gearbox have the same Jaguar part numbers. EBC11305N
They don't show the supercharged version as an option on that page, but if you look at the flywheel you'll see that the XJR was different to the NA 4.0.
Good luck
