Stereo jack connector XJ8 - anyone fitted one?
Discussion
Anyone been inside the radio/tape unit on a Jag or Daimler 308 to fit a 3.5 mm stereo socket? I would like to Bluetooth my IPad music to the car. I already have a small Avantree Bluetooth tx/rx unit which I use on the GoldWing to an Interphone F4 headset and it's brilliant. I'm too old for pioneering, but don't mind following someone who has 'been there, done that'. Must be some electronics whizzos out in PH land methinks.

My solution (in an X300) was to put a cassette adapter in the tape player, and feed the wire back to the centre arm rest box under the wooden Ski slope.
Costs about £2 and I can listen to music, podcasts, audiobooks etc from my phone on the way to work.
Choosing an adapter with black wires makes it pretty unobtrusive and it works well. a 90s solution for a 90s car

Many thanks for the reply,
I thought about that possibility and somewhere (now, where did I put that?) I have a cassette adaptor from the old days with a Sony Discman. Do you consider that the cassette adaptor gives as good a quality sound as the original radio/tape?
Although I am in no way an audiophile, the Daimler has a fantastic premium sound system and I am used to that quality now.
I fired off an email to the company who service and repair Alpine systems and they are now looking into it to see if their tech dept can fit a socket to the front panel.

It's alright, but it won't be as perfect as a direct input. I mostly listen to spoken word stuff so it doesn't matter as much.I thought about that possibility and somewhere (now, where did I put that?) Give it a go with the adaptor you have - you might need to give it a clean every month or soto keep it tip top.
Thanks again for the info
I'll try my adaptor when I lay my hands on it! I've seen a few Jag units for sale on fleabay for little money, if I can find the right one for the premium system of 2000, I might buy one and have that modified by DTronix, to preserve the original.
I'll post back when I have a result,
Ian
