Infants in the back of XKR
Discussion
Good morning all,
I know there are some threads on this topic and the general consensus is that it's a squash in the back even for little ones.(I have a daughter who is four and a son who is two)
I'm wondering though whether anybody has removed the rear seat back rests from the car which hopefully gives a few more inches to play with.
I haven't yet bought the car and a decisive factor will be whether I can fit the rascals in or not. I suppose I could just put them in the boot if all else fails..........

my wife is 5ft 4 in and she gets into the back ok. However if you are over 6ft you may find it difficult to drive but it can be done.I know there are some threads on this topic and the general consensus is that it's a squash in the back even for little ones.(I have a daughter who is four and a son who is two)

Mothercare will try and fit car seats for you. I went there at the weekend to try the Britax DuoPlus which, I read on various forums, will fit an XKR. It will, but the base of the child seat will be right up against the backrest of the seat in front, even if it's all the way forward.
Apparently the Britax VersaFix is a little smaller but I'd say that's still a bit on the neat side for the comfort or safety of the child, or any front passenger. I'm now considering a belt-in type (it's rare that I'd ever need to take our son in my car, we have a ML320 for family duties) for the odd occasion it would be handy, and just using it in the front passenger seat now he's big enough to be OK in a forward-facing seat.
I can't comment on removing the backrests I'm afraid but I'd be surprised if it freed up enough space to make it practical with even the most compact of ISOFIX seats. Good luck though and please do report back if you have any success.
