X308 with Manual Transmission Conversion
Discussion
No affiliation with the seller; I've never seen an manual X308:

Bit light on the details and shame it's not the 4.0 or XJR, but could be an interesting purchase.

that's a bit of an unusual advert to say the least but a manual car must be worth a look at.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JAGUAR-XJ8-X308-1999-MAN...

Very interesting.
The contemporaneous XK8/XKR has seen a few attempts to fit a manual gearbox (Elite and Performance Jag in Drby did one and NormanD, on here has also managed it). My understanding is the difficult bit is to ensure the electronic systems recognise the manual box. The vendor states he hasn't done many miles. I wonder to what extent it works in sync with all the on board electronic systems....
Interesting that the affort to convert was made with a smaller engined version rather than the 4.0 or R.

I'd be very interested to know the details on that. As I understand it, the conversions done in the past have troubled even experts (and I've seen much the same when Audi A8/S8's are converted to manual). This looks a bit funny, with the wonky gearstick and strange writing style.
Also, as an aside, I've finally found one colour that doesn't suit the X308!

I may be wrong but I thought the six cylinder cars were available with a manual box, but the V8s have all had automatic and are electronically set up for the auto which is where the difficulty lies when converting - the engine needs to think the auto box is still there. On that basis the conversion maybe wouldn't be as complex on the 6 cylinder car such as this which had less reliance on electronics. The contemporaneous XK8/XKR has seen a few attempts to fit a manual gearbox (Elite and Performance Jag in Drby did one and NormanD, on here has also managed it).
