anybody here got an F type?

I am pondering replacing my elise r with something a bit more comfortable for my old bones and the shortlist is 911, 430 or F type. So I'd be interested in ownership experiences of the F type. Is it really a drivers car to put on the same list as the porker and ferrari? In other words is it a replace for the E type which when launched was a ferrari equivalent.
And how well built? How expensive to maintain. All the ususal questions.
I would be thinking of the V6S - ultimate power / speed isnt what I want so much as fun driving.

Yup ; lovely Firesand V6S Coupe.
Amazing car, sounds stunning, driven very well, nothing broken in 6 months (aside from respray as bumper different colour than bonnet!).
Far, far better than my old XK .. or any other car I have owned.
Watch the options, they mount up as quickly as our German friends. Do go for uprated seats and the better sound system - two things I regret not getting.

The S comes with the adaptive suspension, so will give you a slightly more comfortable ride. Active exhaust is also standard - the only decision to make is whether you want to be able to switch it yourself, or let the car decide when.
Old enough to find the sills in the Elise a bit awkward.
But I like simple lightweight cars with a performance that is within my limited skills. So I dont want what Ettore Bugatti referred to as high speed lorries. Like the XK8. And I am wondering where the F type fits in the spectrum. Both the 911 and 430 are more complex and higher performance than I ideally would want or indeed that both makes originally set out to be. An older air cooled 911 or maybe a 360 would be nearer the mark but my days of classic cars with all the maintenance issues are over. I have a F-Type V8S and it's fantastic, you will love the noise. The traction control allows you to have a little bit of slip when pushing on which is fun, but gathers it all up if you don't have the skill....
I had a Mk1 Lotus elise in the past. The F-type will feel a little bit like a luxury limo compared to the Elise & obviously a lot heavier.
I would highly recommend it, but I would also recommend you try an Audi R8 I had one before the F-Type and it handles considerably better if that's what you want.

I have a V6S and here's some observations 4 months in:
It's fast enough and with the active sports exhaust it has so much character. You don't need to be doing silly speeds either, it can pop and crackle at 30mph.
The seats are pretty good as is the entire cockpit, nice level of finish BUT NOT as special as a 430.
It gets great positive attention.
A couple of annoying things:
Mine has the selectable interior lighting but for some strange reason it only does the lower half of the interior and leaves the top half blue so it's pointless.
I have the top spec stereo but it sound average at best, perhaps not the stereos power as such but lack of attention to the car acoustics.
There's some minor rattles but only if I'm being very picky.
The soft top will wear badly I think, it is already showing some early signs of wear.
The placement of the Park Brake switch should be recessed a bit, it's caught me out when I've stopped at lights and rested my hand on the shifter (when in Park it automatically shuts off the ignition).

Lovely V6S for us , had it for 1 year and it's had its second service this week (full big service £400) , it's been superb with no issues including a trip to Le man and 2 track days at Silverstone !!! Nice and quick the noise it makes is just plain rude and handles very well too !!! Been very supprised how easy it is to hang the tail out with the traction control fully on !!!
It's feels very light and steers nicely from the rear , will be a the Pistonheads Sunday service at Silverstone if you want to come over for a chat .

What was that car that came past him at 8 mins dead - passed like he was stood still. Looked like a Zonda or something similar.
The inside of the car puts me off a bit. Apart from the steering wheel badge it could easily be a BM or an Audi or indeed any other mass manufacture. Not very special at all.
I have a basic F type 3l.Its a 2013 car done17500 miles,without any issues.I have had a couple of Ferrari 430 cars.They are amazing and you just cannot compare the jag to the Ferrari exotica.The Ferrari is just not an everyday car,and you always worry about it in a supermarket car park!The jag is an everyday fun car and surprisingly given a lot of respect by onlookers.I sold a boxsterS for the Jag.The boxster is a slightly better drive but the Jag cockpit is a much nicer place to be.It feels like a jag,drives like a jag should,is put together better than previous jags I have owned and so far hasn't depreciated that much.Suggest you buy one!
Thats a really interesting post. I blow hot and cold over the Ferrari - sure it liiks good, and once in a lifetime to own that badge! But I guess its not really useable day to day and with UK traffic it cant be driven as it should be on special days out. But I have tested the Porkers both Boxter and 911 and neither of them really seems like a special "toy" car. Far too common.

Not sure of the avg age of posters but when I grew up in the 60's there was no Porsche,Ferrari or BMW's on the streets but there where Jaguars and they had to be looked upon in awe.Maybe a wait for the Evora convertible?
So we never got brainwashed by all the hype as kids about supercars so when I see a F type for £85k or less
And I see an Aston or Ferrari for double that I must admit I find it confusing.
Added to which all Jaguars are meant to be driven daily the same cannot be said for some exotic cars.
