I've been looking at these for a few months, and have a few questions that hopefully someone here can answer.

It doesn't look like there were many options available - from what I can see it was just the adaptive headlights, and some body trim changes. Are there any other things that weren't standard that are worth looking out for? And were there any model year updates after its release?

Some cars have a suede steering wheel - is this worth having? Is it easy to replace with the leather one?

Is there anything in particular to look out for on them? I gather the front splitter is quite prone to being knocked, but is there anything else to bear in mind?

There aren't that many for sale, but the ones I've seen seem to stick around for a while - is it down to the time of year, or are they just not in demand much?

Thanks in advance!

We sold ours last month, 4 years / 52k miles, over that time other than routine services and a couple of minor faults under warranty, it was very reliable and other than tyres, cheap to run.

Rear tyres lasted around 8k miles and fronts 10 -12k miles. Services average £400, a few faults were fixed under warranty (can't remember what they were but minor), and an extended warranty from Jaguar was £850 for 12 months.

Front splitters are expensive - £1800, we only had to replace ours once after a customer parked it into a low kerb so be careful!

The car was on our flexible short term lease fleet so had 5 different drivers over its life, plus myself when it was between leases - purely to keep a check on its performance and condition of course - and was huge fun. In many ways, I prefer it to the F Type - with an updated sat nav / interface and the new 8 speed box, it would be the perfect GT.

We operate a small number of Jaguars, including an XFR, and all have proven reliable with good dealer service, so buying from a Jaguar dealer should be a good experience, I can recommend Charles or John at Hatfields in Wakefield - I do not know if they have any in stock but if not, they could probably point you on the right direction.

XKR-S that are around are probably still sticking due to the time of year. I cannot recommend them highly enough - good luck with the search, I may even look to P/X our XFR when it comes for sale for one!

Choose the colour in & out and that's really it aside what you mention. Suede wheel can wear, but can be bought separately anytime.

Great car, be careful when cold &/or wet. Spent a whole day on the Nurburgring and was blown away with it's drive ability & reliability.

Happy hunting...

Thanks for the replies thumbup

Just waiting for the right car to come up, which could take a while - there aren't many available at the moment it seems.

Bit of a dilemma - a car has come up that is pretty much spot on for the age/mileage/budget - however it doesn't have a couple of the options I was hoping for (adaptive headlights and reversing camera).

I have both on my Range Rover, and while I'm sure I'd cope without them, I do quite like having them.

I'm just waiting for the dealer to check whether they can be retro-fitted, but I suspect not. So I need to decide whether to compromise, or hold out for the "perfect" car that may never turn up. I can live without them, so I don't think it's a dealbreaker, but on one hand I want it to be perfect, but on the other hand I'd kick myself if I let this one go, and nothing else turns up for months.

The other thing that has put me off very slightly, is that when I sat in it, it didn't really have that lovely new(ish) car smell of leather etc... although it hadn't been cleaned or prep'd by the dealer at this point, so I'm hoping that will return once they clean it! Probably sounds daft, but this is a big purchase for me that I've been waiting a long time for, and I want it to feel special!
