Yes the dealers have a similar system to Audi, Merc etc. Any dealer can look up the main dealer service history for the car. Note Jaguar owners tend to be more likely to use independents and these are not on the main system

Cars less then 2 or 3 years old (IIRC) have an electronic service record which I believe is recorded by Jaguar UK. Cars older than that don't have any such centralised record with Jaguar as far as I know. At least, my local dealer claim they have no way of finding out what's been done by other dealers other than to phone them.

I guess one branch of somewhere like Stratstone would probably be able to find service and maintenance records for work carried out on a car at another branch of the same though.

If your talking 60,s s type or any old car if you no what area the car comes from new you can always get in touch with that area county council thats what i did for a old forsdon van to reclaim the reg number, they all have a arcive department with old vehicle records, and for a small fee like £12.00 you can reclaim some records like who sold the car from new,the first buyer ,vin number, colour, date when first registered.........

Call the dealer who supplied it (probably on the number plates).

in late 2013 Jaguar made a move to OSH (online service history) so any new Jaguar produced from that point onwards has a digital service record. Before that there's no such luck. you'll have to contact previous owners to see where the car was serviced.

As others have already said, Jaguar is still in the dark ages as far as service records are concerned. I dont know about the newer stuff but my '07 XJR has to rely on paper records only, no central system even for the most recent work.

And dont rely on the dealers either - my old XJ8 had some work carried out by a dealer but I forgot to take the paperwork. I called them a month later for copies and they had no record of any work. Turns out the dealer name had changed but was still a Jag dealer but when they made the change they wiped all the old records.

I cant begin to tell you how exasperating it is having to deal with Jaguar and their dealers on anything to do with warranty or work they have carried out, They never seem to be able to remember doing the work or have the paperwork. Luckily my warranty ends next month and I wont ever have to darken their door again.
