Hi,

I'm looking at replacing the old OE Pirellis with something a little more useful.

Looking at Michelin Pilot Super Sports for my standard 18" rims. Unfortunately not available for the rears in 255/45/18.

Would 275/40/18 be an acceptable alternative? Has anyone had any experience running this tyre combination.

Failing that its back to the drawing board!

Thanks,

Matt

I'd stick to standard fitment tyres, personally. Uniroyal Rainsport 2 and 3 are both available in the 255/45/18, I've used the Rainsport 2s on other cars and found them to be excellent, wet and dry.

I think NormanD runs 275 rears and Toyo tyres with his XKR. Can comment re the current best but don't waste money on J rated tyres or worse retro as per original fitment.
