I have a 2000 XK8, recently noticed the smell of hot oil coming into cabin. After much searching found a small oil weep from drivers side rocker box at the rear of the engine. I'am told this is common problem with the oil drips falling onto the hot exhaust. Sounds like I need to replace the rocker cover gaskets.
Could you tell me what is the ballpark price at a garage for this work, and is it a job I could do myself.
As money is tight after Xmas is there a simp;e fix that another member has tried, these odd drips possibly only add up to an egecup full every two weeks so not life threatening. Would a simple piece of alloy or tin to collect the drips and redirect them away from the hot exhaust be an idea for now to save money until a proper repair can be done. Any advice please

You may be able to stop the leak by gently tightening the cover bolts. If not the OS cam cover gasket is easy enough to replace. Just remove the cover, take the old gasket out and ease a new one in then replace the cover.
