Hi I have a xtype 3.0 petrol 52"REG". It failed to start, the RAC said engine turning over, problem is with the starter motor (batt brand new). Changed starter motor, but still will not start. power to starter ok, power coming from ignition ok, tested new starter and old one, both ok. What could be the fault??????

Failed to start without any previous problems/running perfectly up till then?

What were the circumstances when it failed to start - after a long run or short run, hot or cold weather, etc?

I'm struggling to understand why the RAC guy would diagnose a starter motor problem if the engine was turning over - that's the only function the starter motor performs!

Agree, starter motor turns the engine? Is this happening? If all else good, is it getting fuel? Fuel pump? Fuel injectors, ECU?

What could be wrong with the starter motor if it does exactly what it's mean to do - turn the engine over?

Immobiliser fault - tried another key?

Does the X Type have a saftey cut out to shut down fuel after a accident - reset?
